How We Built a Full-Stack On-Demand Laundry & Dry Cleaning Platform for an Australian Startup
- Our client — based in Sydney, Australia — came to us with a vision to modernise the laundryand dry cleaning industry: replace phone calls and walk-ins with a seamless digital booking experience. We built them a complete on-demand platform from the ground up.
- The result is Laundry App: a Next.js web application that lets customers in Sydney schedule pickups, track orders and pay online — integrated with Stripe for secure payments and the Uber API for realtime driver dispatch and tracking. Today the platform offers Wash & Fold, Dry Cleaning and Household Item services with a 24-hour turnaround guarantee, free delivery, and a 3-hour express option — all managed through a powerful admin panel that gives the client full operational control.

- We designed and engineered the complete Laundry App platforma customer-facing Next.js web application and a comprehensive admin operations panel, powered by a Node.js API and MongoDB database.

Customer Web Platform
A fast, SEO-friendly web app where customers can browse services, check transparent pricing, select a pickup time, and complete booking in minutes – with a responsive design that works flawlessly on desktop and mobile.
Service Catalogue & Transparent Pricing
Three distinct service tiers – Wash & Fold (from $4.99/kg), Dry Cleaning (from $6.99/item) and Household Items (from $15.99/item) – each with clearly structured pricing pages and an itemised breakdown at checkout so customers always know exactly what they’re paying
Stripe Payment Integration
Secure, cashless payment processing with card support at checkout, automated receipts on order completion, and a flexible billing engine that handles per-kg laundry pricing alongside per-item dry cleaning and household charges in the same transaction.
Uber API Driver Dispatch & Tracking
Orders are dispatched in real time through the Uber API, connecting the customer’s booking directly to available drivers. Customers receive real-time tracking so they can follow their driver from pickup to delivery – no phone calls, no uncertainty.
Admin Operations Panel
A dedicated management interface giving the client complete control: manage service areas and suburb coverage, configure pricing, track all active and completed orders, manage driver assignments, and monitor business performance through an operational dashboard.
Order Lifecycle & Notifications
Customers receive SMS and email notifications at every stage – booking confirmed, driver on the way, items received, cleaning in progress, out for delivery. The full order lifecycle is transparent and automated from the moment a booking is placed.
Service Area Management
The admin panel includes a suburb-level service area configurator, allowing the client to activate or deactivate coverage zones as they expand across Sydney’s CBD, eastern suburbs, inner west, north shore and beyond – without any code changes.
Cloud-Hosted Node.js + MongoDB Backend
A scalable API built for growth: MongoDB’s flexible schema handles variable order types and pricing structures efficiently, while the Node.js layer manages real-time Uber dispatch webhooks, Stripe payment events and order state transitions cleanly.

Variable per-kg and per-item pricing is calculated at checkout with full itemisation. Payments are processed securely, receipts are generated automatically, and the client receives clean settlement data in their Stripe dashboard.
